  • What does the word syndication mean?

Posted by admin on September 14th, 2011 and filed under syndication | 3 Comments »

I tried to google the word and see what it means but I’m still having trouble understanding the meaning.

The most general definition is a group of business, or people, who have agreed to do business together. For example, if you were a fashion designer, you could make agreement with a chain of stores or individual stores to sell your clothing – this is called a syndication – you have syndicated your clothes to these stores.

What network/channel does Third Watch air on in syndication?

I don’t think this show is syndicated either:(

You can look it up on your tvguide every once in a while though:

You can go to Tvguide.com and type in your zip code and get your listings for your area. Then type in the show or actor you want to see on tv and all their appearances on tv.

    Here are directions:
    1. Go to http://www.tvguide.com/
    2. Click what’s on tv
    3. Under tv listings, click Change location/provider
    4. Put in your information
    5. When your done with your information click done
    6. There are 2 search bars, go to the one nearest the top and put in Third Watch
    7. Go down to Third Watch: TV Listings and they list every time it will be on and what channel for up to 2 weeks I believe

    Sorry:(

What channel does Chicago Hope air in syndication?

It’s on the AmericanLife TV Network (ALN).
    http://www.americanlifetv.com/home

ALN is carried only on a small number of cable systems. In Chicago, ALN is available only on RCN cable. It’s on RCN channel 220. (The channel number will vary in other cities.)

You can also watch episodes online on hulu.com:

Diagnosis: Murder does not air on tv in repeats anymore in the US.

"United States: CBS (original run), Hallmark Channel (ran reruns until 2008), Hallmark Movie Channel (movies and 2-parts only)."

    Sorry:(

Why does the same single season of the Simpsons keep airing in syndication?

Posted by admin on March 31st, 2011 and filed under syndication | 1 Comment »

On the local channel(Twin Cities) that airs the Simpsons in syndication, they have been showing the same recent season over and over for months. This is a show that has more than 20 seasons to draw from, so why would they repeatedly air the same 20 or so episodes? I can’t see anyone getting excited to watch an episode they saw a week and a half earlier, and a week and a half before that, and so on.

probably cheap for the tv station to buy

How does TV Syndication work in the United States?

Could some one explain that please?

For example Oprah and Dr.Phil are on syndication, what does that mean and where could you watch that programme?

When programs are syndicated it means that they basically are put up for sale by the company that makes them, rather than being purchased by a major network. Any TV station across the nation is free to buy them and show them on that particular station.

There are a number of first-run syndicated shows (like Dr. Phil, etc.), but the majority of syndicated shows are old TV series that originally ran on network TV. Once their network run and contract is complete, whatever studio owns the program puts it up for syndication and pretty much any station can buy the rights to broadcast that show.

If you like the TV show "SEINFELD" did you start watching "SEINFELD" when it was still on Air or Syndication?

I watched Seinfeld a little when it was on Air. I was watching other stuff then.
But I started watching more of it when it was in Syndication.

How many episodes of a TV series are required for a show to go in to syndication?

Posted by admin on December 20th, 2010 and filed under syndication | 2 Comments »

    Are there exceptions?

It depends – but for a half-hour comedy, the "magic number" for syndication is considered 100 episodes. This point is usually reached during a prime time series’ fifth season.

There are exceptions – the NBC comedy "My Name Is Earl" was cancelled by NBC after 96 episodes – but the show got syndicated on TBS anyway.

According to Wikipedia, for a TV show to enter daily syndication, the minimum number of episodes required would be 88, or 4 full seasons. But I’ve heard of shows being syndicated once they’ve contracted for their 100th show, even though it hasn’t been filmed yet (they probably would have 88 episodes ready for airing at that point)

If a series gets syndicated to air once a week, instead of 5 times a week, fewer episodes would be needed.

There are also exceptions if the show becomes famous or has a cult following – "Lost in Space" was syndicated with only 84 episodes, the original "Star Trek" had only 79 episodes, and "The Honeymooners" was syndicated with only 39 episodes produced.
