    Please show full working out, if possible:
    1. Round $18.4427 to the nearest 5 cents
    2. A box of 1500 elastic bands costs $28.50. What is the price per elastic band, to the nearest cent?

    4. J-Mart are having a 15% off sale. A pair of skates has a sale price of $115.60. What was the original price?
    5. Lotto winnings of one million dollars are divided between two syndicates, Bye Boss and This Time, in the ratio 8:7. How much will the Bye syndicate receive, to the nearest cent?

    1. $18.44
    2. = $28.50/1500 = $0.019 = $0.02
    3. Robert = 65/5*7 = 91. Debbie = 65/5*4 = 52. 91-52=39
    4. $115.60/85*100 = $136.00
    5. 8+7=15. 1m/15*8=$533,333.33

    How to calculate percentages of Large Numbers?

    Posted by admin on July 22nd, 2011 and filed under lotto syndicate | 4 Comments »

    I would like to find 21 percent of 161.000.000.000 this is just for fun
    I am in a syndicate that did not win the Euro Lotto :)
    Thanks in advance.

    The easiest way to calculate percentages of any number is to divide it by 100 and multiply by the percentage.

    i.e.

    161.000.000.000 divided by 100 = 1.610.000.000

    now multiply by the percentage

    1.610.000.000 x 21 = 33.810.000.000

    Hope this helps!!

    Algebra word equation?

    Posted by admin on June 13th, 2011 and filed under lotto syndicate | 3 Comments »

    A group of people share their lotto win equally amongst themselves and each person receives $15675. If there had been 3 more people in the syndicate equal sharing would have seen each person recieve $11400.

    How many people were in the syndicate and how much did the syndicate win?

    Let the amount won be w and the number of people p

    Then, 15675p = w and 11400(p + 3) = w

    so, 15675p = 11400(p+ 3)

    => 15675p = 11400p + 34200

    i.e. 4275p = 34200

    so, p = 34200/4275 = 8 => w = $125,400

    Just wanted to say a big thank you to the person that answered my question! Claimed my winnings in Scotland so I was very happy. Can you also tell me if you (or anyone else :) ) know how to add another syndicate? I want 1 or 2 more.

    Thank you!

    it depends on what you want to add….

    To add more lines for both Euro Millions and the National Lottery you need to text in EURO4 to 85200.

    For just the National Lottery (Wed & Sat) text ADD to 85200.

    For just the Euro Millions text EURO1 to 85200.

    This information is available on the website www.lottobytext.com
