  • What channel does Chicago Hope air in syndication?

Posted by admin on July 30th, 2011 and filed under syndication | 1 Comment »

It’s on the AmericanLife TV Network (ALN).
    http://www.americanlifetv.com/home

ALN is carried only on a small number of cable systems. In Chicago, ALN is available only on RCN cable. It’s on RCN channel 220. (The channel number will vary in other cities.)

You can also watch episodes online on hulu.com:

How to calculate percentages of Large Numbers?

Posted by admin on July 22nd, 2011 and filed under lotto syndicate | 4 Comments »

I would like to find 21 percent of 161.000.000.000 this is just for fun
I am in a syndicate that did not win the Euro Lotto :)
    Thanks in advance.

The easiest way to calculate percentages of any number is to divide it by 100 and multiply by the percentage.

    i.e.

    161.000.000.000 divided by 100 = 1.610.000.000

    now multiply by the percentage

    1.610.000.000 x 21 = 33.810.000.000

    Hope this helps!!

what effect has globalisation had on human trafficking and organised crime syndicates?

Not a "Higher Education" question. Sounds like a homework question. Unless someone here is studying that same subject [what would that be?], it’s unlikely you’ll get an answer here. And it’s unlikely it would be complete enough for your prof, because it sounds like you’ll need citations of research, etc.

You must have discussed this in class or perhaps it’s in your textbook.

    Good luck on your homework.

Would the Crime Syndicate of Amerika have their own series?

I would like to see more of the DC Antimatter universe.

It would be cool–I’d buy it and check it out at least once. Edit: Being sincere here….one of my guilty pleasures as a young teenager was the old-school _Secret Society of Super-Villains_ comic. I think there’s enough room in DC Comics for at least _one_ well-written villain book, you just have to pick the right people.

Catch is: Writing these characters. Making them good characters–as in compelling–while keeping to the "equal/opposite universe" theme. Most writers can’t or won’t pull it off–they’re too busy making a joke out of it as per Bizarro World.

I’d personally like an _updated_ version of the origin story behind the CSA. Something along the lines of: They start out young, idealistic, and powerful….So where did their lives go so wrong? How did they _Not_ become heroes? Is their world just that sick and twisted–or were they themselves somehow responsible for everything being reversed/mirrored?

Basically do a Year Minus One take on them, before they become debauched and all Jersey-Shore-ish.

Edit 2: Have Brian Azzarello write it, maybe J. Scott Campbell do artwork–and do what _Smallville_ did with Lex Luthor, with the main cast. Start out with young, idealistic people and actually make people wonder "Ok, do they really _have to_ turn out so bad?" Put some suspense in it.

lottery syndicate question full perm 6 from 8 = 924 lines correct? so how many?

Posted by admin on July 11th, 2011 and filed under lottery syndicate | 140 Comments »

in the national lotto49 numbers if 8 are selected then a full perm of any 6 from 8 would mean 924 tickets ok now if 3 numbers are drawn how many tickets would i have out of the 924 with the 3 numbers ? if 4 are in the draw how many lines of 4 would there be? also 5 numbers how many? (i know that if all 6 numbers are in the draw there would only be 1 line) if say 5 came up there would be so many lines of 5 and 4 and3 but how many ????

If the order doesn’t matter, and there can be no repetition, then there are only 28 six-number combinations out of 8.

Do I need a lottery syndicate agreement?

Posted by admin on July 8th, 2011 and filed under syndicate | 2 Comments »

I am in a syndicate with family members. We are not worried about payments in, publicity, how many draws etc this is all agreed. But I am wondering if there are any implications to us should we win if we don’t have a signed agreement e.g tax implications?

You are worrying about the wrong things.

There is no tax on cash gifts at any time. In the worst case scenario one person would be deemed to win, and they would be deemed to be giving money away to other syndicate members. If this person died within 7 years there might be inheritance tax problems, but (contrary to another answer) there is never capital gains tax or anything else to pay on the gift itself.

But this is all irrelevant anyway. If you win you can ask the lottery company to pay the money jointly to you all, so you each receive your tax free share without any complications.

What you need to worry about is the basics on which you have supposedly agreed. The point of getting this in writing is that it means there can be no confusion or argument in the future. And no matter how close your family is now, don’t underestimate the friction that can be caused when someone puts £5 million on the table in front of you.

You need an agreement that specifies how many lines you buy, who is a member, how you can leave or join, what happens if someone does not pay they share of entry fees on time, how you distribute small winnings, etc.

    Do crime syndicates work together?

Posted by admin on July 2nd, 2011 and filed under syndicates | 73 Comments »

Do some Organized Crime groups like the Red Mafia, Yakuza, and the Italian Mafia, work together? Could you imagine how much more of a threat they would be if they did?

There ave been reports of cooperation between organized crime groups.

As they are not much of a threat now, and in light of the fact that these groups prefer property crimes and vice to violent attacks, I would not expect increased risk for the average citizen.
