I find it odd that some episodes are entirely wiped out and not aired. I see this all the time with Home Improvement and Saved by the Bell reruns.

They buy episodes in bundled packages and sometimes dont have the rights to every episode. That happens with really long running shows like the Simpsons, they dont want to purchase the rights to 20 years of episodes, they’ll make do with the past 10 years.

I watched Seinfeld a little when it was on Air. I was watching other stuff then.
But I started watching more of it when it was in Syndication.

I think Yellow Gremlin’s is the best one out there, they’ve got nice tooltips and search boxes too

It depends – but for a half-hour comedy, the "magic number" for syndication is considered 100 episodes. This point is usually reached during a prime time series’ fifth season.

There are exceptions – the NBC comedy "My Name Is Earl" was cancelled by NBC after 96 episodes – but the show got syndicated on TBS anyway.

According to Wikipedia, for a TV show to enter daily syndication, the minimum number of episodes required would be 88, or 4 full seasons. But I’ve heard of shows being syndicated once they’ve contracted for their 100th show, even though it hasn’t been filmed yet (they probably would have 88 episodes ready for airing at that point)

If a series gets syndicated to air once a week, instead of 5 times a week, fewer episodes would be needed.

There are also exceptions if the show becomes famous or has a cult following – "Lost in Space" was syndicated with only 84 episodes, the original "Star Trek" had only 79 episodes, and "The Honeymooners" was syndicated with only 39 episodes produced.

In the “bad bank” model, the government has the additional problem of managing all the bad assets that it purchased –a task for which it lacks expertise.
