My cartoon strip is aimed at daily newspapers, the 4 panel variety. Do I need to register a trademark or copyright it? How do I get into syndication?
Breaking into comics syndication is harder than ever; most syndicates only start up 1-3 comics per year out of thousands of submissions. Statistically, you might stand a better chance of getting on American Idol. Because of this tight competition, many cartoonists have simply opted to post on the web.
But if you still want to go the traditional route, obtain the most up to date submission guidelines from the Big 4: Universal Press, United Media, King Features, and Creators.
Each syndicate has different requirements for your submission package, so read the instructions carefully.
You don’t have to obtain a copyright, simply placing "© 2010 Your Name" on the comics make them yours by default. You can register your comic at the US copyright office for a nominal fee for extra protection in case of infringement, but until you’re accepted, it doesn’t really matter anyway.
Trademark is a different, more expensive matter and is best left alone until your have a popular property on your hands.

Theres 6 of use (all friends) deciding to play the lottery every week without fail, by simply putting money each week into a pot and then playing the game.
In the Uk, there are 2 games we are interested in playing: The normal lottery known as ‘Lotto’ and the ‘Euromillions’.
The lotto is played on wednesday and saturday (i think) but basically twice a week.
The Euro is once a week friday i think
The question is what is the best way for us to play? As in should we all put our money into just 1 game out of the total 3 possible times to play (ie just play euromillions? or just wednesdays lotto?)
Or is there a more better way to play helping our chances?
Finally should we stick with the same numbers every single week or change and randomly selective dependent on how we choose in that week?

As a syndicate i would play like this: Enter both lotteries of the week, wednesday and saturday.
Study past results and decide on two numbers which make frequent appearances.
Make 12 entries for every draw and include these two numbers in each entry.
Use the remaining numbers to complete each individual entry, you will only need to use repeat numbers on your last entry.
Any time your two numbers come up, you will have a minimum of four 3 number winners but an increased chance of having three 3 number winners and one 4 number winner etc.
Recap: Your chosen numbers are one and two for example. You always use these two numbers in every lottery from now on.
The remaining numbers are 3 to 49. You make 12 entries using the numbers one and two and select 4 other numbers for each entry, not repeating any of the other numbers you’ve used until you get to the last entry. By the 12th entry you will have covered every number possible and have to repeat a few. So now, if one and two come out in any draw you will have at minimum four 3 number winners because one and two will appear with each or some or all of the other winning numbers.
